Union Support

The College of Podiatry is an independent trade union listed with the Government’s Certification Officer and subject to all aspects of industrial relations legislation.      

We also enjoy the broad legal protection afforded to trades unions under law and, together with around a dozen other unions we are listed on a special register, which enables our organisation to enjoy additional special privileges in respect of election of officials. This is simply in recognition of our dual status as a professional organisation and a trade union.

It is the aim of the College of Podiatry to recognise and encourage the valuable and enriching contribution that people from all backgrounds and experiences bring to the College.  We believe all individuals should be treated on the basis of merit and without prejudice.  The College therefore, aims to provide a service to members that actively promotes equality of opportunity and freedom from discrimination on grounds of age, cultural background, class, disability, ethnicity, gender, religion or sexual orientation, gender reassignment,part-time or shift worker, language, union activity, and an individual’s health status.  We will strive vigorously to remove conditions which place members at a disadvantage and will actively challenge bigotry and discrimination.

Not just for NHS

The work we do is vital and affects the lives of members both at and away from the workplace.


However, its not just members in the NHS that we support it is all our members. Whether you are a podiatrist working in private practice, retail, industry, teaching, the military, prisons, are a manager, a surgeon, an assistant/technician, or an employer our job is to support you.
