Statement on OSGO from the College of Podiatry

Statement on OSGO from the College of Podiatry

We regret having to take the decision to not have OSGO as one of the exhibitors at this year’s annual College of Podiatry Conference.  We did not take this decision lightly.

As a not for profit membership body and trade union the sole purpose of the College of Podiatry is to support our members and the profession and promote the value of podiatry. We value our wide range of commercial partners who work with us to offer products and services that complement the work of the College and benefit our members and the wider profession.

At our recent meeting with OSGO we discussed with them that should they move forward with plans to offer professional indemnity insurance it would not be appropriate for us to continue to work in partnership with them.

We have enjoyed working with OSGO and understand that OSGO, as a commercial organisation, is always looking for new products and services that can be monetised.  However, OSGO’s recent announcement that the company will be offering professional indemnity insurance, via a third-party, means that OSGO’s services have moved from being complementary to College membership to operating in the same space.

College of Podiatry insurance is designed as a bespoke policy for podiatrists and includes public liability, medical malpractice and product liability up to £15 million.
