Proposals for the NHS

The College of Podiatry notes that Labour is the first party in this election to commit to spend at least £1 billion annually for education for NHS staff.

We hope that all other political parties make the same commitment to the NHS. Continued training and investment in bursaries is vital in ensuring that patient care is improved. If this funding is to be made available it must be across all NHS professions, including Podiatry.

Chief Executive of the College of Podiatry Steve Jamieson said: ‘We hope that all political parties make the same commitment. Furthermore this funding must be forthcoming every year - not a one-off - to stand a chance of helping, and must be recognised as only the starting point of a package of investment in NHS staff.’
