New Podiatry Outreach Officer

New Podiatry Outreach Officer

The College of Podiatry is delighted to welcome Rachel Middleton into the new role of part time Podiatry Outreach Officer which has been funded as part of the Strategic Interventions in Health Education Disciplines (SIHED) Programme by the Office for Students. SIHED is a new programme which will deliver a range of interventions to increase awareness of allied healthcare professions, including podiatry, and support student recruitment for course providers. The Podiatry Outreach Officer will join the SIHED team to design, develop and deliver a programme of outreach events and activities to inspire the next generation of podiatry students.

Rachel has a wealth of experience, having previously worked in both the education sector and with membership organisations. She joins the College from the Association for Language Learning where she led on organisational strategic development. As a qualified teacher, Rachel also has a solid background working with schools, colleges and young people of all ages and from diverse backgrounds.

Rachel tell us: ‘I am really excited to be joining the College of Podiatry. I enjoy working on ambitious projects and am very committed to improving the educational  and career outcomes of the next generation, and encouraging more people of all ages to become podiatrists.  There is a real opportunity to make a difference  to the future podiatry workforce in this role and I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, members and a broad range of stakeholders from varied sectors’.

We are delighted to have Rachel leading on SIHED outreach work and look forward to seeing how she shapes the programme to help boost recruitment to Podiatry courses around England.
