Introducing PODMO20

Introducing PODMO20

Can you spare 30 seconds to make the case for the impact of podiatry?

PODMO20 is the new and simple tool that will enable podiatrists to record patient interventions and play their part in developing the evidence of the impact of podiatry.

PODMO20 consists of 9 simple questions or fields, which are anonymous and non-patient identifiable (so there are no GDPR implications), and which the podiatrist fills in with each patient. The questions took an average of 29 seconds to fill in during testing.

The data gathered by podiatrists will be stored in a central database which will build up over time, allowing all participants to see in real time the UK picture of podiatric activity by age, gender, BMI, geographic location, clinical types and interventions as well as referral type. Podiatrists will also be able to interrogate their own data and run comparative analysis reports. These questions or fields align with the minimum data set and can then use to help map and articulate the case for podiatry including need and provision in the UK.

Consultant Podiatrist Matt Fitzpatrick, Chair of the College of Podiatry’s Clinical Senate, commented: ‘It only takes take half a minute per patient to input answers to the nine questions – but every podiatrist who takes part is playing their part in making the case for podiatry.

‘With this project the College of Podiatry aims to embed audit in practice and gather true ‘live’ activity data on what our members are providing for patients every day.’

The College of Podiatry is calling on members to embrace PODMO20 within their own private or NHS practice.
