  • Welsh Government makes 3 year offer to NHS members The COP welcomes the pay offer from the Welsh Government and we will consult with our members in Wales over this deal. The COP has been involved throughout these negotiations and we are pleased to see some progress. Our members in Wales have suffered from pay freezes and pay restraint over the last 8 years and this will be seen as a step in the right direction. 25 July 2018
  • The College of Podiatry one name, one organisation Following a decisive vote in favour at the AGM on 30th June 2018, the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists has now been renamed the College of Podiatry. More than 85% of those who voted at the AGM did so in support of the proposal that the organisation be renamed. 24 July 2018

  • Annabelle Ewing MSP supports Foot Health Month in Fife Local MSP, Annabelle Ewing showed her support for local hard working NHS podiatrists last week when she visited Dalgety Bay Medical Centre to attend an event hosted there as part of Foot Health Month 2018. 05 July 2018
  • More than 85% vote for change of name to College of Podiatry More than 85% of those voting members who voted at the AGM (either in person or by proxy), voted to support Council's proposal that the name of our organisation is changed to the College of Podiatry. 04 July 2018
  • Foot Health Month 2018 competition winners For Foot Health Month 2018 we ran a competition among our members to decorate their practice with Foot Health Month materials, balloons and bunting, and then take a photo and send it to us, or post it on Twitter using the hashtag #FootHealthMonth2018. 02 July 2018
  • Professor Anne-Maree Keenan awarded OBE Professor Anne-Maree Keenan has recently been awarded an OBE in the recent Queen's Birthday Honour List for her services to podiatry. Anne-Maree holds a Chair in Applied Health Research at the University of Leeds and is the Assistant Director of the Leeds Biomedical Research Centre. She said, 'I am honoured to be nominated for this award'. 28 June 2018
  • The College of Podiatry welcomes Office for Students support for higher education in podiatry Two projects, designed to improve recruitment and retention of students to podiatry courses are being warmly welcomed by the College of Podiatry. 26 June 2018

The SCP has been involved throughout these negotiations and we are pleased to see some progress.   • Volunteer podiatrists needed Volunteer Podiatrists can play a key role in improving the Ultra Challenge experience for thousands of people that have chosen to take on this major challenge, many in aid of charities and causes that are important to them. 21 June 2018
  • NHS England members vote to accept three year pay offer Members working in the NHS in England have been balloted on a new three year pay deal and the result was overwhelmingly in favour. 21 June 2018
  • Urgo Foundation Award videos Two new films made by the College in association with Dr Martin Fox, Vascular Specialist Podiatrist for Manchester Leg Circulation Service, and funded through the Urgo Foundation diabetic foot ulcer award are now available to view on YouTube. The films show the role of podiatry in the care of patients with diabetes and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). 21 June 2018
  • HEE launches clearing campaign to attract a new generation of podiatrists On 23rd May 2018 Health Education England (HEE) launches a new marketing campaign to encourage more young people to consider a career in the Allied Health Professions. The campaign will include targeted marketing activity to promote podiatry as a great career option. 21 June 2018
  • Response to Government's increase in NHS funding Responding to the Government's announcement of increased funding for the NHS, the College of Podiatry CEO Steve Jamieson said, 'We of course welcome any increase in funding for the NHS; however we are concerned that following 8 years of austerity which has affected the NHS workforce and staff morale, the proposed extra resources by 2023/24, may be insufficient to cope with the ever increasing numbers of patients with complications from long term conditions. 18 June 2018
  • Society statement on outcome of Pimlico Plumbing case Members may have seen press reports on the outcome of a legal case where the Supreme Court made a ruling on the status of a self-employed contractor. The Supreme Court made a ruling that, in fact, he was not a contractor but a worker. As a worker he was therefore entitled to holiday pay etc. but also his tax position would change from being self-employed. 14 June 2018
  • NHS in Scotland pay update The Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists (SCP) - the leading professional body for podiatrists - today welcomed the proposed improvements to NHS pay and conditions for NHS staff in Scotland covered by the Agenda for Change (AfC) Agreement. 11 June 2018

  • NHS England pay update members have their say We are pleased to announce the results of our ballot, of members working for the NHS in England, on NHS pay. Of those voting 91% voted to accept the offer and 9% voted to reject. 08 June 2018
