Renewal of CSci Status

CPD Guide and Form for Chartered Scientist Revalidation
Chartered Scientists must engage in ongoing CPD in order to maintain the Chartered Scientist professional registration.  The College of Podiatry is required to select 2.5% or registrants for audit.  If chosen, the audit will assess your CPD record against these standards:
Registrants must:

  • Maintain a continuous, up-to-date and accurate record of their CPD activities;
  • Demonstrate that their CPD activities are a mixture of learning activities relevant to current or future practice (see learning activities below);
  • Seek to ensure that their CPD has benefited the quality of their practice;
  • Seek to ensure that their CPD has benefited the users of their work;
  • Present a written profile containing evidence of their CPD on request.

Consequences of the Standards

Standards 2, 3 and 4 require you to be professionally active in some degree, which may be a problem if you are not currently in employment/professionally active/on a career break.  If you are not currently professionally active then your current learning activities might not be sufficient to maintain your professional registration.  However, if you are on a career break (e.g. maternity leave, illness etc.) then it is possible to request a deferment.
