Joining the College of Podiatry means joining a unique community of health professionals working to support the UK’s foot health.

We are the leading professional body representing podiatrists and chiropodists in the UK. We operate as a trade union and champion of the profession within the wider health economy, combining the highest academic standards with comprehensive support services including insurance, education and member welfare. 

We represent the profession at the highest levels of the NHS and government, and engage with leading podiatric bodies around the world, supporting international cooperation and developing opportunities for overseas practice.  

College membership provides a comprehensive package of benefits to support your professional practice and development, whether you operate privately, within the NHS or both, and gives you a say in the future of the profession.

As a member of the College you are:

We are the only specialised TUC-affiliated union representing chiropodists and podiatrists in the UK.

  • Market leading insurance cover, including public liability and medical malpractice insurance and product liability insurance cover. A full summary of cover available is on request. 

  • Employment support, including immediate access to professional advice and assistance in industrial relations and professional matters; plus formal representation at HCPC and local and disciplinary hearings. 

  • Business advice, supporting you to start up and manage a private practice, and a College of Podiatry practice accreditation scheme. 

  • Networking opportunities both locally and nationally.
  • Legal advice and support, including local or national representation and a legal helpline.
