International Committee

International Committee

The Committee is made up of the Chairman, the President of the Federation Internationale des Podologues (FIP) and the Dean of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine and General Practice.  Other members may be co-opted annually by Council or the Committee as they see fit. The Committee meets at least twice a year.

Committee Activities:

1. Receive reports from the FIP and the European Council of Podiatrists (ECP) and advise on Society strategies

2. Maintaining links with other relevant organisations that influence the practice of podiatry in the European Union.

3. Overseeing friendship agreements with the American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) and Canadian Podiatric Medical Association (CPMA).

4. Involvement with the ongoing development of the International Academy of Podiatric Medical Educators 

5. Fostering friendship agreements or mutually beneficial relationships with podiatric associations, and other countries, as considered desirable.

European Council of the Liberal Professions (CEPLIS)

The European Council of the Liberal Professions (CEPLIS) is the only inter-professional association representing the liberal professionals at the Community level. CEPLIS are partnered with the European Association of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (UEAPME) to ensure even greater representation in all European Community decision-making.


European Council of Podiatrists (ECP)

The ECP represents the FIP in the Council for European Liberal Professions (CEPLIS), which is the sole representative voice for podiatry and the health professions with the European Commission, Parliament and Council.

Federation Internationale des Podologues (FIP)

The FIP is an international not-for-profit association focused on global leadership and the development of podiatric medicine around the world.

FIP’s mission statement:To advance podiatry worldwide through education, advocacy, and strategic alliances for the benefit of those with foot and ankle ailments

The Federation was founded in 1947 with 10 podiatry organizations. Over the years, it has grown to include 31 organizations representing 30 countries spread over six continents.


International Academy of Podiatric Medical Educators (IAPME)

The International Academy of Podiatric Medical Educators (IAPME) is a semi-autonomous body that sits within FIP to help further podiatric education and practice worldwide.


SOLVIT is an on-line problem solving network in which EU Member States work together to solve without legal proceedings problems caused by the misapplication of Internal Market law by public authorities.
