3 Minute Thesis

Postgraduate Competition: Three Minute Thesis

An 80,000 word thesis would take nine hours to present, could you do it in three minutes?

The College of Podiatry is launching its 'Three Minute Thesis' competition for all MSc, PhD and Professional doctorate students studying a subject linked to any area of podiatry.

The competition challenges all students engaged in research to use their academic, presentation, and research communication skills to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience.

The competition is open to any post graduate students studying at MSc or PhD level in an area associated with the lower limb.

Each participant is allowed a single stationary slide as a background, but no transitions, no props and it has to be the spoken word, so no songs or poems we’re afraid.

The best 5 entries will be shortlisted, with entrants winning free registration to this year’s College of Podiatry annual conference in Bournemouth, along with an invite to present their entry live during one of the sessions. The winner will be selected by a panel of high profile judges and the people's prize will be selected by the audience.

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) was developed by the University of Queensland, and celebrates the exciting research conducted by PhD students around the world.
